Hutt Lagoon in Western Australia is a salt lake that shifts between blush pink, deep pink and red as the sunlight, time, tides, and wind shift the light. The pink shade is formed from the microalgae Dunaliella Salina, which produces carotenoid pigments including beta-carotene.

Having visited a few times, I wanted to capture a linear, abstract image of where the natural lake meets the salt mine, showing where natural beauty meets infrastructure. These geometric lines and shapes create the perfect opportunity for fine art aerial photography.

To create movement, I stayed in the area and used the wind ripples to my advantage, creating an even more abstract image.
